Asante Kotoko: Ismail Abdul Ganiu appointed as new club captain – Reports

Defender Ismail Abdul Ganiu has been named the new Asante Kotoko substantive captain ahead of the 2021/22 football season.

These changes emerge after Felix Annan who is captain of the side left the club last month after ten years at the club.

Ganiu, who has exhibited glimpses of leadership prowess in his last three seasons to earn the trust of the club’s leadership.

Ganiu will be assisted by Goalkeeper Razak Abalora and Mudasiru Salifu for the upcoming season.

Abalora gets the nod as the first deputy with Salifu Mudasiru picking the slot of the second deputy for his effort.

The trio is expected to play a starring role for Asante Kotoko in the 2021/22 season as the quest for the first league crown since 2015 intensifies.

Asante Kotoko signed nine new players for the upcoming season largely dominated by teen sensations.

Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors will leave the shores of Ghana on Thursday for a pre-season in Dubai as part of the preparation for the upcoming season.

The 2021/22 football season has been scheduled to kick off on October 29.
