About 2,722 Candidates write BECE in Asante-Akim South

Juaso (Ash),- A total of 2,722 candidates from 78 Junior High Schools are writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

They are made up of 1,430 boys and 1,292 girls.

This was made known by officials of the Municipal Education Directorate when the Municipal Chief Executive ((MCE), Mr. Alexander Frimpong visited the Juaso Senior High School centre.

The MCE was at the centre to encourage the children ahead of the Social Studies and French papers, as the political head of the Municipality.

“I am here on behalf of the Assembly and Traditional Authorities to wish you well in your exams and to encourage you to face the task ahead with a clear conscience,” he stated.

He said the BECE was one of the major hurdles they had to overcome in their academic progression and urged them to enter the exam hall with a positive mind-set.

The BECE, he reminded them, was their first step towards their future careers and that most of the professionals they admired in their communities once sat for the BECE.

“The examination hall is the same as your various classrooms that you have been learning over the years so feel free and answer the questions without panic,” he encouraged them.

Mr. Frimpong also counselled the candidates not to feel intimidated by the presence of the invigilators because they were only there to do their jobs, saying that they had also been students before and for that matter familiar with their situation.

“With the introduction of the Free Senior High School Policy by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, all you need to do is to work hard and get good grades because school fees are not hindrance to secondary school anymore,” the MCE assured.

Madam Elizabeth Davies, the Municipal Director of Education entreated the candidates to overcome any fears they might be harbouring before they entered the examination hall.

She said the questions they were about to answer were not different from what they were taught and urged them to approach the questions with open minds.
