Fiorentina midfielder, Alfred Duncan has dismissed media reports that he could not show for Ghana’s World Cup doubleheader qualifier due to an injury.
Duncan was named as part of Milovan Rajevac’s 32-man provisional squad for the qualifiers against Zimbabwe but had to withdraw from the squad.
According to multiple reports, the midfielder excused himself from the squad due to injury.
His withdrawal generated controversy when he featured for club side Fiorentina in their match week 7 encounter against Napoli after allegedly serving notice of an injury.
Reacting to the reports of failing to show up due to injury, Duncan took to his Twitter to state in clear terms that he is not injured but agreed that there might have been some lapses in communication with the head coach of the team.
He has played in Fiorentina’s last five matches and has been ever-present in those outings.
Ghana take on Zimbabwe on matchday 3 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers on October 9 at the Cape Coast stadium.
