Youth urged not to give up their good heart desires

Asante Mampong (Ash),– Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, paramount chief of the Asante Mampong traditional area, has asked the youth not to give up on their future goals.

He said failures were a necessary part of life since they gave one an opportunity and experience to devise new strategies to achieve whatever goal.

People should, therefore, not throw their hands in despair or commit suicide when they failed to achieve something in life.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu was addressing students and teachers from senior high schools in the Asante Mampong traditional area, who participated in a quiz organized by the traditional council in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The competition was part of Daasebre Osei Bonsu 25th anniversary celebration as the occupant of the Silver Stool of the Asante Kingdom.

Saint Monica’s, Amaniampong, Saint Joseph and Ejura Anglican Senior high schools participated in the competition, which centred on the history of the Asante Kingdom, the Asante Mampong Silver Stool and the biography of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

At the end of the competition, the Ejura Anglican SHS was declared the winner after accumulating 53 points to beat the other contestants.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu used his own life experiences to admonish the students not to give up in life but continue to fight until they attained higher levels on the academic ladder.

He said he had many setbacks in his ordinary and advanced levels education and even some courses at the university, but with determination and hard work, he was able to surmount all of them and rose to the top of becoming a registrar at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and also as the occupant of the Silver Stool of the Asante Kingdom.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu commended the winners for their fortitude and asked the students to continue to learn hard and develop the right attitude to be able to make it in life.

He presented medals, shields and certificates of honour to the individual contestants.

The Ejura Anglican SHS received a cash prize of GHc2,000.00 for winning the competition.
