Sefwi Presbytery urges students to be discipline

Aboagyekrom (W/N), -Reverend Michael Chertok Ayeh Otu, Sefwi Presbytery chairman of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has called on students to be disciplined to enable them to become useful adults and to society.

He said as future leaders, discipline and hard work played a vital role in their social well-being.

The chairperson made the call when he toured some Presbyterian schools within the Sefwi Presbytery to access their progress, challenges, and the way forward.

The visit took him to Bibiani, Bekwai, Dwenase, Nsawora, and Asawinso Districts of the church.

He asked students to avoid bad companies and always concentrate on their studies to justify the investments made by their parents.

The Rev Otu commended teachers for their role in providing quality education and advised them to inculcate the fear of God in the children so that they would not depart from it when they become adults.

He mentioned low enrollment in some private schools as some of the challenges facing the schools and hinted that the Church would soon implement a school feeding programme for such schools to help increase enrollment.

The Chairman lauded the government efforts in addressing infrastructure challenges in the schools.

He used the occasion to donate educational materials such as exercise books, Pencils, and Pens among others to the schools he visited.

Mr Alfred Negbley, Sefwi Presbytery Director of Education announced the commencement of a spelling bee competition among Presbyterian schools to help rejuvenate reading habits and good spellings among pupils at the basic level.

He said the Sefwi Presbytery would by September this year organize free mock examination for Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) candidates to adequately prepare them for their final examinations.
