Sunyani,– The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has appealed to Ghanaians to avail themselves to be counted during the upcoming National Population and Housing Census (NPHC).

Mr. Peter Kwabena Gyasi, the Deputy Bono Regional Director of the NCCE who appealed said the NPHC enabled the nation to gather accurate and reliable data for development planning.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of a day’s in-service training on the census for staff of the Commission in Sunyani, Mr Gyasi advised the citizenry not to allow anything to hinder them from participating in the exercise.

Organised by the Commission, the training aimed at sensitizing the staff of the Commission about the importance of the NPHC, and empower them to intensify public education on the exercise.

He explained the training would be replicated in all the Districts and Municipalities in the region to empower the staff to undertake radio and street sensitization campaigns on the Census to achieve a successful headcount.

Mr Gyasi tasked the staff of the Commission to emphasise the Census night, which he added was the reference point for the enumeration of the citizens during their sensitization exercises.
