All the nine Members of Parliament on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have endorsed the current Regional Chairman Mohammed Bantima Samba for a second term, Yendi MP Farouk Aliu Mahama has said.
The son of late Vice-President Aliu Mahama made the revelation on Tamale-based Diamond FM while talking about getting a winnable team in 2024.
“All the nine MPs in Northern Region are solidly behind Regional Chairman Samba for a second term”, Mr Mahama said on Tuesday, January 4.
The nine MPs include Hassan Tampuli (Gushegu) who is also a deputy minister of Transport and Dr Amin Adam Anta (Karaga), who is also a deputy minister of energy.
The rest are Alhaji Habib Iddris (Tolon), Ayaba Aziz (Mion), Hardi Tuferu (Nantong) and John Jabar (Zabzugu).
If re-elected, Samba will go down in history as the first Northern Regional Chairman of the MP to have retained the position for a second term.
