Make yourself available to be counted – Ghanaians advised

Accra,- The Most Reverend Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana has called on Ghanaians to avail themselves for the 2021 Population and Housing Census slated for Sunday, June 27, 2021 to Sunday, July 11, 2021.

He said the census was necessary because it provided Government with reliable data concerning citizens and helped them allocate the national cake accordingly.

“Tonight is census night which begins the enumeration and counting of all Ghanaians who would spend the night here. It is important that we all make ourselves available for the exercise.

“The census will inform Government as to where people are concentrated, where jobs are needed to be created, which urgent social amenities need to be provided, policy formulation and even the church needs the data to inform us in our work of the Ministry,” he said.

The Presiding Bishop gave the advice on Sunday during the Commendation and Commissioning Ceremony for 59 Ministers (52 males and 7 females) to commence their probation as Deacons.

He said citizens should cooperate with personnel from the Ghana Statistical Services who would come to collect the data for the exercise would be a success.

“I also appeal to all those in gated communities to open their doors to the personnel and for you who have dogs, please keep them in check so they don’t harm the officers. In case you have doubts about any personnel, just ask for an ID card as proof and you’re good to go. It is your right to be counted so please do all you can to be counted,” he said.
