Lighthouse Chapel fetes children, prison inmates in Eastern Region

Koforidua,— The Lighthouse Chapel International, Machaneh Church in Koforidua, has feted children at the Eastern Regional Hospital as part of the Christmas celebrations to reach out to the vulnerable and weak in society.

The church marked the Christmas celebrations with the children on their hospital beds on the theme: “Every Christmas,” intended to bring smiles unto the faces of sick children at the ward.

It was also to pray for the children and share the word of God with them as well as pack food and drinks.

The church also visited prison inmates at the Koforidua Central Police station, where they also gave the inmates packed food, drinks and Christian books written by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Jamel Amponsah-Baa, the Bishop of Koforidua Council of Churches of the Lighthouse Chapel International, said he started this mission 13 years ago at Asankraguaa.

He said it formed part of his private initiatives to put smiles on the faces of the less-privileged.

“As part of every Christmas I wish to extend this kind of giving to the less privileged and the sick so they will not be left out of the Christmas celebrations,” he said.

He added that Christmas was about giving and that there was the need to show love and care to others who might not be privileged to get the kind of love and care they required.

He said the gesture was for every Christmas and added that such a show of love would continue annually.

“We have also slated January 5, 2022, to also visit orphanage homes so we can also show such kind of love to them,” he said.

He encouraged Christians to show love to such less privileged, especially during such festive seasons, adding, “That is what Jesus require of us that we show love to our neighbours because He is love and this is the only way to demonstrate as true Christians.”
