Obuasi (Ash),– Madam Faustina Amissah, the District Chief Executive for Obuasi East, has stressed the need for Ghanaians to acknowledge the contributions of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to helping the less privileged in the society.
She said but for the volunteerism and love by these NGOs and their sponsors, many poor people, less privileged, deprived and vulnerable in society, would have found it very difficult to stay alive in society.
Madam Amissah made the commendation when she joined the Mama Love Foundation, a charitable organization at Obuasi, to organize a dinner party for girls, who are undergoing various forms of vocational training under the sponsorship of the Foundation.
She lauded the Mama Love Foundation for giving hope to the many less privileged and poor girls in the Obuasi and its environs to acquire employable skills to fend for themselves and contribute to the development of the country.
Madam Amissah appealed to the beneficiaries to take their training seriously and be disciplined in the pursuit of economic empowerment.
Meanwhile, the Mama Love Foundation under its ‘lend a hand, give a can: sharing is caring’ programme presented packed foods and drinks to about 1,000 vulnerable people in some parts of Obuasi.
The food was to help them take part in the Christmas festivities.
