Kumasi Central Prison receives support from Hollard Life Assurance

Tema, – Kumasi Central Prison has received bags of cement from Hollard Life Assurance, a subsidiary of Hollard Ghana, to support a canteen project to improve the eating environment of inmates and officers.

The donation, which formed part of the Hollard Ghana’s Corporate Social Responsibility to support the prison, was also meant to ease the burden of inmates but generally to seek the welfare of the vulnerable.

Mr Nashiru Iddrisu, Managing Director, Hollard Life, who did the presentation; was flanked by Mr Kwaku Gyapong Fosuhene, Kumasi Branch Manager, a statement copied to the Tema Regional Office of the Ghana News Agency stated.

He said the company was committed to the upkeep of the vulnerable hence its swift response to the call of the prison to assist it in their ongoing canteen project for inmates.

He said as a company that cared for the well-being of people, it did not hesitate to help in the construction of the project, adding funding such a project was not only a CSR undertaking but an act of charity to help the less privileged.

“Everyone deserves a better future regardless of where they find themselves and supporting the command to provide a decent eating area is our way of showing care and an indication that everyone needs to be treated with care and dignity,” he said.

Deputy Director of Prisons Kwesi Asamoah Fening, Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons, who received the items, expressed gratitude to Hollard and called on other organisations to emulate the gesture.

He said: “we understand that times are hard due to COVID-19, however, the company has gone out of their way to help, and we are indebted to them for responding swiftly to our call for funding”.

He said the gesture was necessary for the maintenance of the prisons infrastructure and would go a long way to help in the reformation of the prisoners.
