Kojokrom Gari Processors launch first product

Sekondi,- Mr. Abdul-Mumin Issah, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis has lauded the willingness of the women in the “Kojokrom Gari Co-operative” to empower themselves and alleviate poverty through the Gari business.

He said, “As a private businessman, I believe in skills and entrepreneurship and I, therefore, commend the initiators of this great idea to solving joblessness and creating more self-reliant individuals in Society”.

The MCE was speaking during the launch of the first Gari product from the “Saemuel Gari Ahoto project”, involving women Gari Processors based in Kojokrom in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The Saemual concept is a self-help concept originated from Korea which seems to give the citizenry meaningful lives through vocational skills while promoting entrepreneurship.

The MCE encouraged the women to manage the business very well to realise the ultimate goal of self-empowerment.

Nana Panyinyena, Chief of Kojokrom entreated the women to continue to work in unity of purpose.

Mr. Rexford Arthur, a member of the project said Development would have to emanate from the consciousness of the people and therefore called for attitudinal change.

Mr Frederick Agyeman, the Western Regional Coordinating Director pledged the Region’s commitment to their course as the RCC’s vision fell in line with enterprising the Region.

Mr. Patrick Akowua, the Regional Director of Agriculture said the department was happy to learn the contribution of women in adding value to agricultural produce.

He pledged to make available all types of cassava sticks for planting to aid in the constant supply of raw material.

Mr Ebenezer Nii Kpani Abbey, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry tasked them to learn from best practices and assured of online market space for their products.

Mr Samuel Oduro, the Assembly Member for Kojokrom commended the originators for bringing such a huge project into his electoral area and prayed for the success of the programme.

The product would be commercialized in both Ghana and abroad.
