Accra,— Mr Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation (CCF), has called on the government to intensify public health education on breast cancer and kidney diseases.
He said people were losing their lives to the two diseases each passing day and there was the need for them to know the causes and the preventive measures.
Mr Kwarteng made the call during the Foundation’s end of year party for the needy, orphans and widows in society.
More than 200 beneficiaries were drawn from the Greater Accra, Central and Eastern Regions with each receiving pieces of wax prints, cash, rice, oil and drinks.
He also appealed to the government to devote resources to public education on the diseases to enable the people to be abreast with the dangers.
“One’s health is the greatest wealth,” he added.
He said in 2022 education on breast cancer and kidney failure would be pivotal on the agenda, where they would also canvass support for the patients.
The Executive Director said data indicated that those suffering from issues of kidney failure mostly came from the poverty bracket.
Most of the kidney patients are poor and cannot afford the treatment,” Mr Kwarteng said.
He appealed to the government, and philanthropists to assist the Foundation in continuously supporting kidney patients who need regular dialysis.
He called on the media to highlight the plight of the vulnerable in society for the government to attend to them.
Mr Kwarteng said the Foundation would continue to supply the vulnerable in society and commended its donors for their support.
