Global Academy seeks educational sponsorship from International Needs Ghana

Juapong (VR),- Management of Global Academy, a basic school established by the Victory Chapel branch of the Global Evangelical Church in Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta region is having discussions with International Needs Ghana for educational support.

International Needs is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), which seeks to ensure children in their target communities had access to quality education through the provision of school infrastructure and other teaching and learning materials.

Reverend Divine Adawu, head Pastor of the Church, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a visit by officials from International Needs that the school operated from pre-school to Junior High level and was part of the church’s goal of impacting positively on society, instilling Godly values in children, and accelerating their academic growth since its establishment in 2005.

It started with only two pupils before rising to 100 over the years due to good academic performance.

However, Reverend Adawu said the school, which had been under the management of the church, received a reduction in population to 32 due to some challenges.

He said majority of the parents were subsistence farmers, “most of them have challenges providing for their wards both at home and in school.

“The school is currently under-resourced. It lacks a library and ICT laboratory which makes it ineffective for teaching and learning of ICT subjects,” he added.

Among many other issues raised in a proposal letter, management of the school was hopeful the partnership would contribute towards the proper shaping of the provision of education in and around the area.

Mr Richard Dakpo, the Regional Coordinator for sponsorship of International Needs Ghana, in his address, said their outfit, for many years, had made strides in reaching many communities in Ghana with various developmental projects, bringing hope to many individuals and families by providing skills and empowering the most vulnerable to make do with what was available.

He disclosed the Organisation was currently sponsoring eight schools in the Volta region at Central Tongu, North Tongu, South Tongu, and Ketu South.

He assured management of the school of their readiness to sponsor the school after going through all the necessary requirements.
