Asante Kotoko have climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after recording a delightful win against Karela United on Sunday afternoon.
The Kumasi-based club despite their inconsistencies in the early parts of the 2020/2021 league season have managed to turn things around under interim head coach Johnson Smith.
Over the weekend, the Porcupine Warriors made the trip to Anyinase for a matchday 13 meeting with Karela United.
Facing the side that finished matchday 12 as league leaders, Asante Kotoko put up a strong performance to ensure they cruised to victory.
On the afternoon, goals from Imoro Ibrahim and Kwame Opoku sealed a 2-0 win for the visitors to hand them the maximum three points at the end of the 90 minutes.
As a result, Kotoko have leapfrogged Karela United to go top of the Ghana Premier League table with 23 points from 13 matches.
Karela United drops to third, with Bechem United and Aduana Stars completing the top four list [second and third respectively].
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have dropped to 11th on the Ghana Premier League table after failing to pick a win from their last three matches.
In the relegation zone, Inter Allies FC finishes matchday 13 rooted to the bottom after losing 2-0 to Ebusua Dwarfs.
Although two matches will be played on Monday and Tuesday, neither of the teams will overtake Asante Kotoko at the top of the league if they record a win.
