King of Ga State, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has fed over 5,000 children at Bukom in Accra.
The Ga Mantse in his address urged the Ministry of Education, civil society organizations, and corporations in Ghana to join forces with the Ga Stool to provide scholarship packages to 100 brilliant but needy students from Ga communities for them to further their education.
He however advised the public to continue to follow the protocols religiously in order to help limit the current spread.
King Teiko Tsuru II however warned against complacency during the annual “Kinka Blonya” children’s party celebration at Bukom in Accra.
“COVID-19 has not left our communities; it is still around us,” he said, “so let us continue to follow the safety protocols put in place by the health authorities,” he added.
Cina Soul, Nii Funny, and many other musicians performed at the annual “Kinka Blonya.”
About Kinka blonya.
The Dutch who built the Usher Fort in Accra is referred to as Kinka.
They are known as the Kinka Blofo, which translates as “Dutch White People.”
Every New Year’s Day, the “Kinka Blonya,” then known as the New Year’s Children’s Party, is organized by the Dutch people for children in front of the Usher Fort.
The tradition was continued by King Tackie Tawiah I, who made it an annual event under the name “Kinka blonya” as part of the King’s festivities.
In 2018, King Teiko Tsuru II restored the event to offer joy to the people of Bukom and its environs.
