Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital organises open day

Effia (WR), Dec. 10, GNA- The Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital has organised an open day to showcase their service to the Region and court some deeper relationships between the hospital and the public.

The open day, which formed part of the Universal Access to health care, was on the theme: “Leave No one’s Health Behind.”

Dr Nana Esi Gaisie, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, said medical tourism was instituted to dismantle any unforeseen barriers to accessing quality healthcare in the Regional Hospital.

“Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital will only thrive on your patronage as we have added additional and improved on existing services. We are here to interact, get feedback, exchange ideas, which are powerful tools in any change management processes.”

Dr Gaisie that the desired results would be generated with both stakeholders working together.

Dr Joseph Kojo Tambil, the Medical Director of the Hospital, said the hospital had now been legally registered, decentralized client care and improved governance structures.

Dr Tambil added that the hospital through Public-Private Partnerships had acquired equipment, including incubators, ventilators, dental chairs, cold room, C-PAP and online Radiology reporting to ensure effective emergency responses in real-time.

He said most revenue leakages had also been cut off with staff capacity building programmes ongoing.

The Hospital currently operates diagnostics services, endoscopy, wellness centre and COVID-19 ICU.

Dr Tambil announced good successes such as a decline in malaria cases and under-five mortality.

He said the hospital planned to sustain the gains, improve customer care, improve staff welfare and prudent financial management.

The Medical Director said the redevelopment of the Regional Hospital was key on the agenda as the hospital hoped to run a medical school beginning the 2022 academic year.

He, therefore, appealed for stakeholder support, especially the hospital staff in the redevelopment agenda of the hospital.

“As a staff, I urge you to give your all to the working again of this Regional Hospital… Know that it forms part of your legacy as a professional.”

Dr Atsu Dordor, the Western Regional Deputy Director of Clinical Services, lauded the vigorous social and image enhancement efforts put out by management, “your new additions are impressive.”

He encouraged the staff to continue to be nice to patients and clients.

Mr Fredrick Agyeman, the Western Regional Coordinating Director, said investing in health was the ultimate investment in the economy and promised the government’s commitment to improving health care in the country.
