Ecobank, partners launched the Light up the city 2021 at the Nationalism Park

The 2021 edition of the “light up the city” -a beautification project-has been launched at the Nationalism Park in Accra with major streets in the national capital laced with decorative lights.

The ‘Light Up Accra’ initiative forms part of the Accra Beautification Project introduced by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and other partners, including Jandel Limited (a décor, luxury, and lifestyle experience company) and Ecobank.

The project, which started in 2019, is an initiative of Jandel Limited, an Event Management organization, and the Accra Metropolitan Area aimed at beautifying the city and promoting tourism through paintings and drawings.

Present at the event were Hon. Henry Quartey, Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, Municipal Chief Executive for Korle Klottey, Mr. Nii Adjei Tawiah, CEO of other local Assemblies from Greater Accra Region, CEO and executives of other institutions present, the Managing Directors of Jandel, Mullen Lowe, BTL.

In a speech read on his behalf, The Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Mr. Dan Sackey said “Unlike last year, when we lighted three cities, Ecobank is here today, sponsoring this year’s projects in Accra and Kumasi. The year 2021, thus marks the third consecutive year, since Ecobank sponsored the maiden edition in 2019, which was done only for Accra.

It is our hope, going forward, to add back Takoradi and explore the possibility of adding other major cities in the years ahead.”

He further expressed Ecobank Ghana’s commitment to continued participation in this event to help create the needed excitement around the Christmas and new year seasons as part of its corporate social responsibility thereby making investments in worthy charitable causes within the communities it operates in.

He continued that “We do this in the hope of positively impacting the lives of people that we serve but also use such platforms as the launchpad to create awareness about our digital financial services solutions that are deployed to help Ghana’s financial inclusion agenda.

It is for this reason that Ecobank has participated in these events for the third year running. I wish to commend all other partners, particularly the local assemblies for the beautiful collaboration in seeing this project through. Our collective efforts will, at least, keep the chosen cities vibrant and beautiful during the festive season”

Christmas celebrations in major cities the world over are usually characterized by beautiful street lighting, Christmas trees, paintings, the show of love, and gifting, all done to commemorate the birth of Christ. During this season, many of us appreciate God the Almighty, for His protection and blessings throughout the year and often pray for many more glorious years ahead.

As a leading financial services provider, Ecobank has a lot to be thankful for this year. This is because, in spite of the many devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic globally, we have continued to remain one of the leading and topmost performing banks in Ghana.

That is why Ecobank continues to provide convenient digital banking solutions to the market. We do this in the hope that every individual can easily open and operate a bank account, make payments and send remittances to other people, on the back of the numerous self-service solutions deployed by the bank. Everyone can do this without visiting any of the bank’s branches.

You are encouraged to do this remotely, especially, in these times of COVID-19, when we are grappling with the new variant, Omicron. I, therefore, encourage every individual to access these services simply by downloading the Ecobank Mobile App or dialing *770# on any registered SIM and following the ensuing prompts to transact.

It is seamless and hustle-free, thereby bringing convenience to all. Let’s all commit to adopting the habit of buying and selling online and, most importantly, making all payments and funds transfers electronically.
