The Police officer captured on video in a “perceived drunken state” has been interdicted by the Service.

The footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows the uniformed policeman swaying unsteadily whilst being heckled by some onlookers on the streets of Cape Coast.

A statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori, Director-General, Public Affairs and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the officer had been identified and in line with Police regulations, had been interdicted to make way for investigation into his conduct.

The statement, said also, a clinical psychologist had been assigned to evaluate him and offer him the necessary support.

It said in addition, he would be referred to the Police Medical Board for thorough review and support towards rehabilitation where necessary.
