Chief of Horti reshapes 8-Kilometre community road

Horti (VR),— Torgbui Ladzekpo Tetteh-Gefu IV, the chief of Horti in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has reshaped an eight-kilometre road linking Akatsi to Xavi.

The road construction, he said, was to contribute to the development in the area and the Municipality at large.

In an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Torgbui Tetteh-Gefu, who is also an Accra based businessman, said his focus was to bring development and progress to the area.

He said community development was a shared responsibility, stating, “the Municipal Assembly can not do it alone.”

“I am a Ghanaian and have my people at heart. So, I did it for my community and the country as a whole.“

Mr Kofitsey Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, on his part, commended Torgbui Tetteh-Gefu IV for the commitment towards the development of the area.

“Out of selflessness, he also provided some social amenities to his people to mitigate the challenges affecting them. There is the need for the community members to appreciate his benevolence over the years,” he added.

Mr Nyahe urged other businessmen and women as well as individuals, who could support, to also identify community needs to solve them.

“We can not put all our challenges on the government. Whatever you can do to help society, do it. The size does not matter,” he said.

Mr Peter Horvey Agbaga, the Engineer, who supervised the project and Chairman of the Development Planning Committee of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, said the road would help other communities along the stretch, from Agbedrafor to Xavi, to have easy access to their various communities.

Mr Shine Foster Agorsor, the assembly member for the area, thanked Torgbui Tetteh-Gefu for his love for the area.

He also announced that the chief was building some classroom blocks and a kitchen for the Xorti EP Primary School.
