Bono NPP holds regional delegates conference

Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono region over the weekend successfully ended their delegates conference in Sunyani in accordance with the party’s constitution.

The occasion was also used to cut the sod for construction works to begin on a permanent office complex for the regional secretariat of the party.

By 07:30 in the morning, delegates, observers and supporters of some presidential hopefuls as well as national executive aspirants had started trooping in at the K. Nsiah-Gyabaah Auditorium of the Sunyani Technical University, where the event took place.

As expected, the event grounds were decorated with party colours with posters and banners of some of the aspirants splashed all over the place.

In attendance were the General-Secretary of the party, John Boadu and a host of other National Officers; the Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye; the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene; the Deputy Attorney-General/Deputy Minister of Justice, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah and many others.

Speaker after speaker called for unity of purpose, commitment and hard-work to enable the party win the 2024 general election and break the eight-year political cycle.

The Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, who set the tone for the programme, attributed the party’s abysmal performance in the region during the last general election to the sharp decline in the price of cashew nuts in the region and the inability of the leadership of the party to properly address the concerns raised by cashew farmers.

He further blamed the loss of some parliamentary seats on in-fighting, back-biting and divisiveness on the part of some party elements and added that the party would not hesitate to institute disciplinary action against any member whose actions are at variance with the party’s constitution.

Mr. John Boadu, the General-Secretary, for his part, urged the members of the elephant fraternity to close their ranks and forge a united front for a massive victory in 2024.

On behalf of the party, Mr. John Boadu donated Gh.c 50,000.00 toward the construction of a new office accommodation for the Bono Regional Secretariat of the NPP.

There were other donations from the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, who presented Ghc 20,000 cash and 1,000 bags of cement, Mr. Allan Kyeremanteng, the Minister of Trade and Industry, who also supported the project with 1,000 bags of cement and a host of others who also made various contributions towards the successful completion of the project.
