Black Stars: Milovan Rajevac urged to continue from where CK Akonnor left off

Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac has been implored to continue from where his predecessor CK Akonnor left off.

After Ghana’s shaky’s start to the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, Akonnor, who was on a two-year contract was sacked together with his two assistant coaches.

The Ghana Football Association [GFA] announced the re-appointment of Milovan Rajevac last month on a one-year renewable contract.

The Serbian will be assisted by Otoo Addo and Maxwell Konadu.

With Coach Milovan Rajevac expected to play his first match on Saturday, John Paintsil has asked that the coach continues from where CK Akonnor left off.

“What Milo [Rajevac] needs to do is to continue from where CK Akonnor left off,” the former Ghana international told BBC Sport Africa.

“For me, I don’t think CK did badly – he won his first match (World Cup qualifier) at home and lost his second match away against South Africa,” John Paintsil told BBC Sports Africa in an interview.

Milovan Rajevac will be in the dugout on Saturday when Ghana hosts Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

The match will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium and has been scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT today before the return game in three days’ time in Harare.
