Black Meteors head coach, Samuel Paa Kwasi Fabin beleives the absence of some key players led to their 10-0 aggregate goal defeat to Japan’s Olympic team.

Japan are preparing to host the 2020 Olympic games in July this year.

The Ghana U-23 team suffered a humiliating 10-0 aggregate defeat to Japan in the international friendlies played on Saturday and Tuesday.

Six on Saturday, four on Monday, that is a summary of the Black Meteors two friendly matches against Japan’s U-23 team.

Ahead of the game, Hearts of Oak refused to release Ibrahim Salifu and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

However, Karela United striker, Diawusie Taylor who travelled with the team tested positive for Covid-19 and couldn’t play both games.

But speaking after the game, the former Asante Kotoko trainer indicated the absence of some key players in the team cost the defeat.

“Many players who participated in the U-20 Africa Championship, but unfortunately the top players at this time could not come to Japan this time.

“The top players (in the U-20 generation) remained in the domestic league, so they haven’t come to Japan,” he added.

The Black Meteors team will fly to South Korea for a friendly before returning to Ghana.
