In his Speech, Mr. Ernest Mbenkum, CEO of Bantu Blockchain Foundation said, “Bantu Blockchain Foundation was set up to manage the first Africa-led blockchain infrastructure for the world.
Blockchain is a new technology, decentralized which allows you to store, manage data securely in a manner that cannot be modified just like other protocols and solutions like Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc all providing different services.
Africans have largely been consumers. However, we felt that this technology itself could be used to address many of the challenges we face in Africa in so doing to enhance cheap payments, financial exclusion and ultimately develop applications and services that empower our people locally. The Foundation is set up to manage, maintain and build this blockchain network which ultimately addresses the challenges within Africa.”
Essentially Bantu Blockchain Foundation develops blockchain infrastructure that Empowers Humanity.
In the words of BBF COO Mr. Victor Akoma-Philips, “Bantu is an ecosystem and that means we do not work alone. Africa is popular for being very communal. Last year we touched on three basic geopolitical zones in Nigeria namely Lagos, Abuja, and finally Port Harcourt in Rivers State to make more people aware of what we are doing.
We thought of the other major and critical part of Africa that has got a very rich history when it comes to independence, like am sure Ghana is one of the first countries to actually gain independence. We felt that due to the significance of what Bantu stands for, it was only proper to actually kick off the initiative, building the ecosystem here in Accra, Ghana.
This is us beginning this key move that has never been done in Africa before and that Accra, Ghana happens to be the place we wish to begin this education and ecosystem building by Africa, for Africa, and Africa to the world.”
It was an evening of edutainment and technology exposition where the Bantu Blockchain Foundation (BBF) showcased Africa’s first and biggest blockchain technology infrastructure to the Ghanaian community amidst fun, games, cool merch, and airdrops.
The BBF has over the last 24 months been building a blockchain infrastructure that puts Africa among the continents of technology manufacturers; building platforms for the evolution of the internet.
The year 2022 has been earmarked to be the year of Bantu Expansion, where just like the historical expansion of the ancient Bantus from West Africa to the far corners of Eastern and Southern Africa, the Bantu Blockchain technology will be expanding from West Africa to the entire Globe.
BBF was specially invited by the Pan African Payments and Settlements System (PAPSS) to participate in the Accra Launch on 13 January 2022 where BBF showcased how Bantu Blockchain Infrastructure will facilitate easier, cheaper, more efficient and more effective digital exchange of value between countries in Africa while cutting off expensive intermediaries.
