Asokwa MP tours constituency after floods, summons builders at swampy areas to produce permit

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei has tasked the engineering department of the Municipality to summon owners of houses on waterways in the constituency to present their permits to the Assembly.

This directive follows her unannounced Friday morning tour of the constituency to ascertain the level of damage caused by the floods on Thursday.

There were damages caused by the floods to some properties in the Asokwa extension area.

Hon Patricia Appiagyei who defied an early Friday morning downpour to tour the constituency want people who build on waterways to be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The MP was accompanied by officials of the engineering department of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly and others from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the respective Assembly members of the areas toured; Kaase, Old Asokwa, Asokwa Extension and Atonsu and together with some constituency executives of the ruling party.

The MP also toured the Agogo as well as the Atonsu markets to inspect the situation on the ground.

At the Agogo markets arena, Madam Appiagyei assured traders that before their relocation for a new structure to be built, the old structure would be put in good shape.

The MP called on the traders at the two markets to be patient with government as it plans and plots the development of the markets in the country.

Mama Pat as she is affectionately called also took the opportunity to visit some schools in her constituency.

At the New Bethel Presbyterian Primary JHS, Madam Appiagyei inspected new classroom blocks under construction.

The three structures when completed would deal with congestion in the school.

Addressing the pupils in the school, Madam Appiagyei urged them to study to become useful citizens in future.

She noted that to become a President and her humble self they need to discipline themselves.
