Asante Kotoko midfielder, Fabio Gama says the team had to play above themselves to beat AshantiGold SC.

The Porcupine Warriors recorded an all-important 1-0 over the Miners in the matchday 28 game over the weekend.

The Brazil import scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute after connecting a header from Patrick Asmah on the left side of the attack to seal all the three points.

The 28-year-old, who was adjudged man-of-the-match, admits the Miners came tough and had to lift their performance to return to winning ways.

“Tough game for everybody,” he said after the game.

“They have a good team, so we had to show more to get the win today.

“They have a good team, I told the coach [Thomas Duah], so they are young boys and they will fight to the end.

“So they are good and we had to improve more to get the win today,” he added.

The win over AshantiGold sent the Porcupine Warriors to the 2nd on the league with 50 points.
