A former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi has been slapped with charges of fraud and corruption after his latest appearance in court.
The embattled former CAF deputy after the airing of the investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas on June 6, 2018, came under heavy criticism.
In the video titled ‘Number12’, Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi was captured supposedly taking $65,000 (£48,000) from an undercover reporter pretending to be a businessman.
In the subsequent events that followed, the former Ghana FA boss was dragged to court where he is now facing the charge of Conspiracy to commit fraud with the former Northern Regional Representative of the GFA, Abdulai Alhassan.
At Court today, Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi has pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud and corruption.
The two former football administrators have now been admitted to their previous bail sum of GHS1 million each with three sureties, to be justified.
Kwesi Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan are also to report to the case investigator until the final determination of the case.
Even though the defence counsel wanted their clients admitted to self-recognisance bail, the court presided over by Justice El-Freda Denkyi admitted them to their previous bail terms.
Meanwhile, the case has now been adjourned to Friday, July 23, for Case Management Conference.
