AFCON 2021: Dede Ayew promises Ghanaians fifth AFCON trophy

Andre Dede Ayew, skipper of the Black Stars has assured Ghanaians that the team will do their best to clinch the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which has eluded the country for 40 years.

The skipper posted on his official social media handle saying, “We will bring the AFCON cup home”.

Dede Ayew, who plays as a winger for Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd is confident to repeat his 2009 record, after leading the U-20 team to win both the FIFA World Cup and the African Youth Championship.

Ghana would make their 23rd appearance in this year’s tournament in search of their fifth trophy after they last won it in 1982.

Ghana, four-time champions will begin her AFCON campaign against Morocco on Monday, January 10 before Gabon and Comoros.
