A divided community cannot develop- Dufia of Horti

Horti (VR), Jan. 4, GNA – Torgbui Ladzekpo Tetteh-Gefu IV, the ‘Dufia’ of Horti in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has called for collaboration among members of his community to ensure progress prevailed.

He said it was time people started avoiding some setbacks and bad practices such as land litigation, conflicts, divisiveness, pull him down syndrome, ambition for power, selfishness, disrespect for one another, and others.

Torgbui Ladzekpo Tetteh-Gefu said this on the occasion of his Royal Stool purification rites and second anniversary celebration of his enstoolment together with Mama Nyavieve III, Queen mother of Horti.

“Let us begin to share ideas with all stakeholders in development including our elders, opinion leaders, assembly and unit committee members, the youths, and see how best we can develop our areas.”

Torgbui Tetteh-Gefu IV further appealed to the President of the Avenor Traditional Council to stamp his authority to bring some chiefs who contravene and breach the standing orders of the Council to order.

“I am the ‘Dufia’ and you are not the ‘Dufia’ issue that must stop. Not for someone to become Dufia is the matter, development depends on what you do to transform your area of jurisdiction,” he said.

The event saw several traditional activities including a dawn journey to ‘River Lotor’ where some rites were performed for the Stool amidst singing and beating of drums by the royal warriors, a durbar, sports gala, and others.

Torgbe Dorglo Anumah VI, the Paramount Chief of the Avenor Traditional Area and President of the Avenor Traditional Council, who graced the occasion together with his sub chiefs from Avenor, called for unity of purpose and determination in every aspect of endeavour.

Mr Kofitsey Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi South, commended Torgbui Tetteh-Gefu for his show of love in bringing development to the area.

Chiefs, Queen mothers from outside Avenor, business owners, the clergy, and others were in attendance to witness the event.
