Veteran Ghanaian football administrator, Alhaji Grusah beleives CK Akonnor, who is the head coach of the Black Stars can never lead the country to end 39 years trophy drought.
Ghana are on a quest to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] in Cameroon, scheduled for next year.
The West African country have won the tournament four times despite playing in the 1992, 2010 and 2015 finals.
Akonnor, following his two years appointment, was tasked by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] to win the upcoming tournament.
But according to King Faisal owner and bankroller, with a coach like Charles Kwablah Akonnor, there’s absolutely no need to pump $25m into the national team because he cannot lead Ghana to lift the covetous trophy at the end of the 2021 Afcon tournament which will be played next year due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m a Ghanaian, I can’t support Burkina Faso or any other country than Ghana but this coach has nothing better to lead our team for the trophy,” he told Kumasi FM.
Alhaji Grusah further stressed that the government may end up wasting their resources on the Black Stars if they maintain CK Akonnor as Black Stars head coach.
“I believe we can win the trophy but not with this coach, Ghana need a white coach because football is managed by a critical thinking person and I know you understand me well,” he concluded.
The Black Stars have booked their place for the tournament after finishing as Group C winners with 13 points.
Ghana last won Africa’s prestigious tournament in 1982.
