2022 budget: My expectation is to see Akufo-Addo stop flying luxurious jets, opulence lifestyle — Amenfi Central MP

Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central Peter Kwakye Arkah says his main expectation is to see a reduction in expenditure at the presidency with monies challenged to boost ailing sectors of the economy.

The NDC MP reiterated his caucus’ strong stand against what they describe as profligate expenditure by the President.

Several of his colleagues led by North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa have consistently criticised the President for what they described as a waste of tax payer’s money on luxurious private jet trips.

Their colleagues on the Majority side have explained umpteenth times that the presidential jet is not fit to give the President and his team the comfort they need on foreign travels.

They are asking their colleagues on the other side of the House to also consider the benefits of the President travels.

Speaking to Omanhene Adu Boakye of Kesben Television’s Maakye program on Wednesday morning, Hon Kwakye Arkah ahead of the 2022 budget reading today, he stated, “My expectation for the budget is that the President would stop hiring expensive jets for travels in 2022.”

According to him, government should outline a plan to complete all abandoned health facilities and E-blocks started by the John Mahama Administration.

That, he noted would create job opportunities for more trained nurses, midwives and teachers.
